Segmenting: A New-Fangled Advance to Isolation Conserving Facts Distributing

چکیده
Re-identification is a major privacy threat to public datasets containing individual records. Many privacy protection algorithms rely on generalization and suppression of “quasiidentifier" attributes such as ZIP code and birthdate. Several anonymization techniques, such as generalization and bucketization, have been designed for privacy preserving micro data publishing. Recent work has shown that generalization loses considerable amount of information, especially for high-dimensional data. Bucketization, on the other hand, does not prevent membership disclosure and does not apply for data that do not have a clear separation between quasiidentifying attributes and sensitive attributes. In this paper, we present a novel technique called slicing, which partitions the data both horizontally and vertically. We show that slicing preserves better data utility than generalization and can be used for membership disclosure protection. We show how slicing can be used for attribute disclosure protection and develop an efficient algorithm for computing the sliced data that obey the l diversity requirement. Our workload experiments confirm that slicing preserves better utility than generalization and is more effective than bucketization in workloads involving the sensitive attribute.

Proportional Allocation of Resources on Shared Ring Buffer for Virtualization
In virtualization, without proper scheduling and resource management, a load surge in one VM may unacceptably degrade the performance of another. Key requirement of IO performance virtualization is performance isolation. The current state of performance isolation for virtualization is more rudimentary. This paper presents a resources allocation framework, based on abstracted Xen IO model, that ...

متن کاملStrategies for Conserving Native Salmonid Populations at Risk From Nonnative Fish Invasions: Tradeoffs in Using Barriers to Upstream Movement
_________________________________________ Native salmonid populations in the inland West are often restricted to small isolated habitats at risk from invasion by nonnative salmonids. However, further isolating these populations using barriers to prevent invasions can increase their extinction risk. This monograph reviews the state of knowledge about this tradeoff between invasion and isolation....
